An assisted living residence in Barcelona has used Marlon CS to allow light into its communal areas.

In November 2022, this project was announced as the runner up in the Brett Martin iAwards in the category Architecture and Construction - Facades.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High light transmission
  • UV resistant
  • Light weight
  • Strength

The façade of Residencia Montserrat Betriu was created using 450m2 of Marlon CS corrugated polycarbonate sheet, allowing light into both the communal areas and the day centre whilst providing an element of privacy to residents, service users and staff.

Marlon CS is more commonly used in roofing and skylights but in this project it was installed vertically as a façade. The product has coextruded UV resistant coating which extends the product’s life, ensuring that it does not yellow and its strength does not degrade with time. It also has a greater impact resistance than other glazing materials.

The Residencia is located in the Sant Marti district of Barcelona and provides a safe and comfortable environment for people with intellectual disabilities to live or spend their time.
